At the beginning of this leg of 50 States of Yoga I drove through Maryland and took a little side trip to Havre de Grace. However on my return trip, I had to get up very early in Pennsylvania and drive straight through to Baltimore, MD for my next 50 States of Yoga class!
I don't know what this face is and, quite frankly, it scares me a little. |
Baltimore Yoga Village has 2 locations; I chose the Hampden one. The Hampden Studio is located in a group of old factory mills that have been re-purposed for office spaces and the like. Just outside of one of the large office mill buildings is a small, odd-shaped building that houses this studio of Baltimore Yoga Village.

Their studio is just as beautiful inside, as it is outside. Vibrant murals, interesting decor, and a bit industrial feeling. It was a neat space to experience a yoga class in. I took Gentle Yoga with Tonika, a substitute instructor for the class. It was a typical gentle class, which is by no means a complaint. I enjoyed the class immensely. I especially liked the tennis balls. This was the first time I had used a tennis ball in yoga class and didn't know what to expect. We used them as massaging tools on our feet - rolling them back and forth under each foot. It was a new experience and reminded me of a foot roller I got a couple years ago when I was having some foot pain. I probably could have just bought a tennis ball!

This was some sort of Oops! photo I took inside the studio. It's magical aura orbs... or some such thing. xxoo |
I have no idea what this says, but it's beautiful - right?! {If you know what this is called or what it says, please let me know!} |
While driving out of Baltimore towards Washington's Dulles Airport, I drove by the Baltimore Streetcar Museum. As I stopped to snap a few photos, the gentleman in the below photo came over to tell me about the place. He said it was closed right now, but open on the weekends and I should come back. He gave me a little history, was extremely enthusiastic, and said if he didn't have a doctor's appointment to get to - he would take me on a tour! He mentioned that he and everyone else there were volunteers, too. I always find that neat - when places run on volunteer power. That's passion.
I don't have any idea where I am, at this point. I think I am still in Maryland though. It was a casino attached to a giant mall. For some reason I convinced myself I wanted to have lunch/dinner at the casino buffet. In my head I was, of course, thinking Vegas casino buffets... but that isn't what I got at all. Wherever I was, if you go there, skip the buffet. But... check out this! A Delorean! You can win it! That made me smile, anyway. And after my buffet trip, as I was about to leave, I noticed the mileage on my rental was 888. A good sign! I seriously considered going back inside and dropping $10 into a slot machine. Haha... but I defeated the temptation and drove off towards Virginia and my flight home.

Lucky numbers! |
Thanks for taking the time to read my 50 States of Yoga adventures! This was quite an amazing trip for me. I now have 28 states complete! It is quite a big accomplishment to finally be over the hump and more than halfway through. I have a very busy couple of months ahead of me as I try to get as many states completed as I can before the cold returns to most of the country. Wish me luck!
