2015 Inspiration Board!

For the last several years I have made an Inspiration Board for the coming year.  A handful of girlfriends and I have gathered around the table, gotten out the magazines, glue, and scissors and talked about what we were excited to accomplish in the year to come.  This year, my schedule just didn't permit time for hosting such a gathering, but I couldn't imagine not having an inspiration board for the coming year - especially with the great big desire I have to visit all 50 states!

What is Vagabond Zen? They're just a couple of words that I feel describe me, my goals, and balance me and my eagerness to reach and reach for the shiny objects all around the universe.

I've been attached to "vagabond" since my early 20s. My BFF {at the time} and I were discovering ourselves and taking advantage of the gift of travel - as we worked for an international airline together. She was known as "the gypsy". A year or two older, she had already had a strong sense of herself and her artistic nature. She wasn't afraid to be creative, dress fashionably, and loved to travel in a very bohemian spirit. I adored her. I admired her sense of wanderlust and her freedom of self. I don't think she knows this - but I truly admired her. She mesmerized me; her confidence was empowering for me. While spending so much time with her and growing my own passion for travel, I decided I needed a moniker too - and somehow The Vagabond was born. When I was 24 I bought my first brand new car - a Jeep Wrangler - and even made her license plate read vagabond. That was the beginning of me as the vagabond. An identity I have proudly held onto and even tattooed into my skin.

When life hands you lemons sometimes there isn't enough sugar on Earth to make a good lemonade.  Sometimes you just need to toss the lemons and grab yourself a refreshing apple cider.  And so we begin packing boxes as we ready to move... again.  I know, I know... we just moved!  We have only been in our Cherryland cottage for less than 6 months.  We knew when we moved in that it had "character".  That was part of the charm... but also why it was so affordable.  We didn't mind the little projects to make it our own.  We prefer unique to cookie-cutter.  But some things are just too big to handle.

Cape Cod and New Experiences

I spent last weekend on Cape Cod in Massachusetts.  If you're not familiar with the area, it's heavenly in the summer.  Beaches... lobsters and clams... baseball... and so much shopping!  The only downfall of Cape Cod is getting there.  There are 2 bridges on/off the cape and traffic can get very backed up.
