DIY Boho Steering Wheel Cover

I saw these steering wheel covers over at Junk Gypsies... and fell in love!
How could I not? All the bright colors, fringes... and leopard!

Fell in love... but not about to pay $25, plus shipping for them.  After all, I have scrap fabric and a sewing machine.  So, I set off to duplicate one of my own.

I couldn't be happier with my attempt!  I am glad I went for a patchwork fabric design too, instead of a solid base like theirs.

Mine came out perfect!

    1. Hi Lauren - thanks so much! I used a fringe something like this: http://www.joann.com/robert-allen-1-3-4--classic-brush-geranium/1353481.html#prefn1=isProject&q=fringe&prefv1=false&start=10 The fringe I used I got for free from craiglist many moons ago... but I'm certain you can find similar fringe from Jo-Ann Fabric, Etsy, or your local craft store. If you make one - please share the link; I'd love to see it!

    1. I folded the fabric around the fringe, in the middle, and sewed along it.

  3. How did you measure your steering wheel? And how much extra fabric did you use considering the elastic makes it smaller?

  4. I used a tape measure and just stretched it AROUND the outside of the wheel then added a couple of inches for the hem and bunching. I didn't really need to add much for the elastic gathering... it wasn't an issue. Let me know if you have anymore questions... sorry I don't have better details! Thanks for checking out my blog. =D
