The practice of compassion means letting experience in. A Japanese poet, a woman named Izumi who lived in the tenth century, wrote: “Watching the moon at dawn, solitary, mid-sky, I knew myself completely. No part left out.” When we can open to all parts of ourselves and to others in the world, something quite extraordinary happens. We begin to connect with one another.

I've been feeling very connected to people the last week or so...
feeling like everyone is connected in magical ways.
(magical like powerful, not like lucky charms - magically delicious!)
it's been incredibly helpful for me to feel this...
as i've been living solitarily the last few weeks..
and will have a few weeks on the road alone very soon.
i've been a bit weary about that...
about thinking too much... about being with me too much.
but i really feel like i've been able to get outside of that lately...
and with this feeling of connectedness, i dont feel alone.
nor do i feel lonely... which is something i've often felt, even when not alone.
