soulmates...

i've always believed i've had a soulmate.
even if i pretended it was all crap.
deep down inside...
i knew i had one.
i knew who he was.
i think i knew the first time i met him.
or maybe he knew then...
that's why he rescued me from myself.
anyway...
i'm beginning to think that
just having
a soulmate
is enough.
that you don't always end up
WITH your soulmate.
that sometimes...
you just have a lifelong connection...
and thats enough.
to know that that person
is there
when you really need them...
and the rest of the time...
you're just off being you.
well... i'm just off being me, anyway.

this didn't all just occur to me for no reason...
i was cleaning out boxes i had in storage
in my parents' basement a couple weeks ago.
boxes, that apparently, have been there
for a decade and i'd long forgetten about their contents.
in one of these boxes...
i came across a piece of paper...
with the following two quotes typed on it
and a feather and flower stapled to it.
it wasn't signed.
nor was it addressed to me.
just two quotes, a flower and a feather.
my heart knew right away though...
(because my memory always seems to fail me)
that it must have been from him.
my soulmate.
someone i've never really had a relationship with.
but someone i've always been in love with.
it sounds so corny and unbelievable,
but it's true.
so...
here are the quotes...
from someone that seems to always know me...
better than i know myself.

"You are creatures of light. From light you have come, to light shall you go, and surrounding you through every step is the light of your infinite being. By your choice dwell you now in the world which you have created. What you hold in your heart shall be true, and what most you admire, that shall you become. Fear not, not be dismayed at the appearance of that is darkness, for you have picked these for youre chanllenges. They are the stones on which you choose to wet the keen edge of your spirit. Know that ever about you stand the reality of love, and each moment you have the power to transform your world by what you have learned. You are life, inventing form. No more can you die on sword or years than you can die on doorways through which you walk, one room into another. Every room gives it word for you to speak, every passage its sond for you to sing."

~Richard Bach

The true self is always in motion like music,
a river of life, changing, moving, failing,
suffering, learning, shining.
